What do you love about your Holly & Tanager handbag?
I have the Companion Mini. And I LOVE the secret handle on the back of the clutch. I have a love/hate relationship with clutches because I think they’re the chic-est kind of handbag out there, but they are such a pain in the butt when you have to hold them in your hand the entire time. So! Holly & Tanager really knew what they were doin’ when they crafted The Sidekick Mini. It’s so convenient and stylish!Shop The Companion Mini
What is your current position and what do you do day-to-day outside of your position?
NOW, I work for a Chicago-based marketing agency as their social media manager and we work with non-profits and association clientele. Outside of my position, I network my little butt off. Various fashion and foodie events (any chance to shove my face with complimentary passables, I’m game!)
I’m also on the Board for The Fashion Group International of Chicago (FGI). I serve as the Community Chair, aka social media manager. FGI is a worldwide non-profit organization with over 2000 members and we shed light on the business aspects of fashion.
Tell us more about your blog, Duffy Dossier and how you started it.
I started my blog in June of 2013. It’ll be 4 whole years next June! Holy wow. I can’t believe Duffy Dossier is about the graduate college. I initially came up with the concept for a blog because I wanted to keep track of all the things I had done professionally. But after asking the Executive Director at my first job if I could use the materials I worked on, on my blog … she said no. So! I decided to go an ENTIRELY different direction.
I got the blog, found a name. Stole the blog’s name from my Mom, actually. She’s a radio personality and used to have a segment called Duffy’s Dossier. After college, during the time I still had no idea what was going to be my adult life, I found a hobby and love for vintage clothing. I started my blog writing about Pittsburgh’s vintage and resale shops and been growing into the fashionable personality I am today ever since …!VISIT DUFFY DOSSIER
What did you dream about as a little kid?
I dreamt about being a singer. And being famous like my Mom was! I also dreamed about who I was as a person. The kind of woman I wanted to be, the kind of professional I wanted to be … and I’m pretty much on those tracks. Except for the singing, I only do that in my car …
Who is your role model and why?
My parents. Both of them. They each gave me different things. My dad gave me communication and interpersonal skills and my Mom gave me my personality and flair for the spotlight
If you gave your 10-year-old self advice, what would it be?
Don’t care about what the girls in high school think about you or how they treat other people, and REALLY, Al – don’t, don’t compare yourself to any of them. Focus on your path, what you want and need.
If you could have a super hero power what would it be?
I’d so wanna fly. And be invisible. Can I have two? I want two. HA!
What essential items do you carry with you in your work purse?
I have my entire make up kit with me at all times, you never know when there will be an impromptu photo opp an umbrella, my checkbook (yes, I still write checks), a notepad, every mobile/computer charger you could imagine and my MacBook!
